Eco Church

Great news: St Hughs Church and The Haven( Church of the Reconciliation) has been award the bronze and Silver awards respectively  for Eco Church.

Colossians 1:16 New Living Translation (NLT)

for through him God created everything
in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see
and the things we can’t see—
such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Everything was created through him and for him.

Eco Church: A Rocha UK’s award scheme for churches in England and Wales who want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth.

One of the five Marks of Mission for the Anglican Church is
“strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the church”.

To become an Eco church we are encouraged to look at ways in how we to express our care for God’s world in our worship and teaching; in how you look after your buildings in:

• Worship and teaching
• Management of church buildings
• Management of church land
• Community and global engagement
• Lifestyle

We now aim to work towards gaining our Silver and Gold awards: look out for more details over the coming months.
